News: Web Design Firm, Awecomm, Premieres Mobile Website Design Service
Troy, Michigan - (Website Hosting Directory) - October 15, 2007 - Web design services firm, Awecomm Web Strategies (AWS), will provide mobile website design services to its growing customer base.
With more users every day browsing the web on their cell phones and mobile devices (Blackberries, Treos, Motorola Qs, etc), it is becoming more and more essential for organizations to address the mobile user group.
Chris Spiek,Managing Partner at AWS remarked, ''People could come in contact with your brand at any time, and if they're looking for information about you, you'd better be able to provide it to them. If I meet someone for the first time in a meeting, I'll pull up their website as I walk out; if I drive by an interesting billboard, I pull up the website at the next stoplight; if I'm listening to someone speak at a conference, I'm checking out their website at the same time.''
Many businesses have not made the leap to address the mobile user's needs. In order to make the design process cost-effective and painless, Awecomm has developed a methodology that gathers most of the content for the mobile website from the organization's main site.
This approach to mobile website development is focused on very slimmed-down content that loads quickly and is easy to browse on a mobile device. Mark Warren, a Senior Software Developer at Awecomm added, ''Our testing has shown that in most cases users just want to get a quick overview of who you are and what you do. If you get your message across, they’ll come back for more.''
One of the first organizations to take advantage of the service offering was Jervis B. Webb Company, a world leader in developing innovative material handling technology and systems. Sarah Carlson, Marketing Manager for the Jervis B. Webb Company offered, ''It is important that we use the latest technology to reach this growing group of mobile users. Plant managers and engineers could be anywhere when they determine that they need information about our company and products.'' The Jervis B. Webb Company mobile website can be viewed by browsing to www.jervisbwebb.com/mobile on a mobile device.
Awecomm has been providing development and design services on mobile devices since 2002 with project ranging from data storage applications for the U.S. Government on Windows CE devices to wireless CCTV camera viewing applications on the Pocket PC platform.

News: Google Trends Application, Reveals Current Top-Rising Searches
Mountain View, California - (Website Hosting Directory) - October 15, 2007 - Search engine company, Google, has instituted a new feature on its Google Trends application, to display the most current list of the top-rising searches.
Hot Trends, a new feature on the Google Trends report, is designed to enable users to see a list of the current top 100 fastest-rising Google search queries in the U.S. Users can also select specific dates to see what the top-rising searches were at a given point in time.
For years, Google has produced a manually compiled list of popular searches called the Google Zeitgeist. Hot Trends takes this list to a new level, providing an up-to-date snapshot of what's on our collective mind – from current events to daily crossword puzzle clues to the latest celebrity gossip. For each Hot Trends result, the associated Google News, blog searches and Google web search results appear, giving users greater context for each result. For example, one #2 Hot Trends result was a cryptic phrase: ''I who have nothing.'' The associated news articles and blog results showed that this is in fact the title of a song that was performed on American Idol that night. And the associated web search results reveal this was originally a song made popular by Shirley Bassey. Mystery solved.
In addition to Hot Trends, there are a few other new changes to Google Trends to make it more informative and user-friendly. Now, in addition to viewing the top countries and cities that searched for a term, users can view the top ''sub regions'' (e.g. states within the U.S.) across more than 70 countries. Users can now compare the leading presidential candidates around the country, for instance, or find out what region in France is most interested in cognac. Hot Trends is Google's newest tool for users who want to keep their finger on the pulse of what the world is searching for.
Recently, Google developed and released a new tool in its Google Translate application, as a cross-language search feature. Allowing users to find and view search results on foreign language web pages in their own native languages, more content on the web will be accessible, regardless of the language. For example, that if an Arabic speaker is searching for restaurants in New York, he/she can now conduct a search in Arabic, and Google will translate the results (most of which are from English language websites) and provide the most relevant search results in their native language. The new feature is available in the following languages: English, Arabic, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional), and Chinese (Simplified).
With the largest index of websites available on the World Wide Web and the industry's most advanced search technology, Google Inc. delivers the fastest and easiest way to find relevant information on the Internet. Google's technological innovations have earned the company numerous industry awards and citations, including two Webby Awards; two WIRED magazine Readers Raves Awards; Best Internet Innovation and Technical Excellence Award from PC Magazine; Best Search Engine on the Internet from Yahoo! Internet Life; Top Ten Best Cybertech from TIME magazine; and Editor's Pick from CNET. A growing number of companies worldwide, including Yahoo! and its international properties, Sony Corporation and its global affiliates, AOL/Netscape, and Cisco Systems, rely on Google to power search on their websites. A privately held company based in Mountain View, Calif., Google's investors include Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers and Sequoia Capital.
