News: Search Engine, ChaCha, Garners Telephony Magazine Innovation Award
News Related to the Web Hosting Industry

Carmel, Indiana - (Website Hosting Directory)- October 8, 2008 - The Telephony Innovation Awards has recognized Cha Cha search engine firm, as a service provider that has developed a unique or first-to-market offering utilizing technology, or addressing customer needs with new methods.

Scott Jones, CEO and Co-founder of ChaCha remarked, ''This is an outstanding recognition that further substantiates how we've cemented our position as a mobile search leader in only eight months, with a new customer trying us every 6 seconds, receiving over 31 million mobile answers since our launch in January. Our game-changing technology is being widely embraced by consumers throughout the U.S. due to the radical simplicity of getting quick answers through our human guides - as opposed to getting links to first-generation search engine results that miss the mark in a mobile context. We are pleased to see our efforts rewarded by Telephony Magazine, but, best of all, we are proud of the validation from our customers. According to a recent survey of our users, 93% recommend our service to friends, 83% consider our service to be very valuable and our loyal customers query ChaCha an average of nearly once per day.''

Kevin Fitchard, senior editor with Telephony and lead reporter on wireless as well as a member of the judging panel noted, ''I was highly impressed by this service. I tried three questions, all of which were answered in detail. All returned detailed responses with some bonus information. For example, I asked for the closest bar that serves food near a specific corner in Chicago, and not only got the name of the establishment, but also the hours that it serves food. Basically this service is like having your own personal researcher and goes far beyond directory assistance.''

Earlier this month, ChaCha reported that according to data provided by Nielsen Mobile, ChaCha was the fastest growing SMS mobile search service through Q2 and increased its market share in U.S. SMS mobile search transactions to seven percent, tieing for second place with Yahoo at the end of June 2008. Most important, SMS mobile search is the segment of the mobile search industry in which the most questions are asked -- much more so than through the much-publicized segments of WAP-based search, carrier search box, carrier portal search, or directory assistance.

Mr. Jones added, ''ChaCha has quickly become the mobile search frontrunner because text messaging is the method of communication preferred by today's on-the-go mobile consumers - especially the highly-coveted younger demographic groups. ChaCha's Mobile Answers service doesn't require a web enabled phone, special browsers or codes to search the internet as those required in a Wireless Application Protocol environment. Mobile users simply text 242242 or call 1-800-2ChaCha on their mobile phones, ask their questions and we return succinct, relevant answers via text messaging. It's clear with our explosive growth that on-the-go mobile users want information provided in this radically simple way.''

Telephony's Innovation Awards are in their second year of recognizing creative service creation and deployment in the telecom service provider space. The awards were presented at a special reception at Telephony LIVE - The 2008 Telecom Summit in Chicago on September 30th. The awards are judged by members of Telephony's editorial staff and by guest judges. This year's guest judging panel included Daniel Briere, CEO of TeleChoice, Vince Vittore, program manager with the Yankee Group and Cindy Whelan, analyst with Current Analysis.

Recently, ChaCha launched its mobile marketing solution, ChaCha 1:1, and is partnering with global brands such as Coca Cola, McDonald's and Fifth Third Bank to implement strategic, integrated and targeted mobile marketing campaigns. ChaCha 1:1 enables intimate and conversational relationships between brands and consumers, bringing the industry a more personal - and profitable - mobile marketing model. Using ChaCha's solution in a campaign this summer, Coke saw a 5.2 percent click through rate, compared to 1-2 percent industry averages. ChaCha, a free mobile answers service, allows users to call 1-800-2ChaCha or text questions to ChaCha on mobile phones and receive answers within minutes. ChaCha expert guides -- trained and skilled individuals -- use ChaCha's powerful internal patent-pending search tools to respond to any query.

News: Microsoft Search Engine Development Center, Hosted in Norway
News Related to the Web Hosting Industry

Redmond, Washington - (Website Hosting Directory) - October 7, 2008 - Microsoft Corp. will use its $1.2 billion purchase of Oslo company, Fast Search and Transfer ASA, to form key, Norway-based research and development centers for its business search systems.

According to Chief Executive, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft bought Fast in January in an all-cash deal to strengthen its enterprise search technology in effort to better compete with Oracle Corp. and IBM.
Fast's current staff of about 300 will be expanded to 350 people, with a main office in the capital city of Oslo and branches in the Norwegian towns of Trondheim and Tromsoe.

Mr. Ballmer explained after meeting Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg in Oslo, ''Norway can be proud of building up an international competence center for business searches. Microsoft wants to be a significant player in that area."

Mr. Ballmer was on a European tour which includes stops in Norway, Denmark, Britain, France and Portugal. Mr. Stoltenberg said the decision is ''very positive because both research and business centers in Norway will work with a major international player like Microsoft.''

Ten-year-old Fast, based in Oslo, is one of the biggest enterprise search firms. Its technology, like those of competitors Autonomy Corp. and Endeca Technologies Inc., helps workers inside a business locate data kept in a tangle of different types of files and databases.

Microsoft hopes its own web search and advertising business, which lags far behind Google Inc.'s in terms of traffic and revenue, will grow from the acquisition of Fast.

News: Web Hosting Provider, NetDepot, Debuts VPS Services
News Related to the Web Hosting Industry

Atlanta, Georgia - (Website Hosting Directory) - October 6, 2008 - Global Net Access, LLC subsidiary and web hosting provider, NetDepot, has debuted the launch of its new Virtual Private Servers (VPS), designed as a cost effective solution for customers interested in the server market.

Virtualization is considered a great way to save money, energy and to optimize the space available. VPS systems have the advantage over low end servers because they are on higher end multi core machines which have a fully raided drive array for the same price. With the addition of the VPS offerings, NetDepot will no longer sell their P3 line of dedicated servers.

Jeff Hinkle, President of Net Depot remarked, ''Virtualization is an important part of the web hosting business and we believe this additional product will take NetDepot's offering to the next level. VPS is recommended to customers looking for a low price option with high quality product and performance.''

To help the launch, the new VPS system is being offered for $1 per month for the first 2 months through December 31, 2008. The offer is valid for one VPS order per customer through December 31, 2008. After two months, the monthly fee reverts to regular published prices. The offer is not valid to customers already receiving hosting services at the AtlantaNAP datacenter.

NetDepot's VPS system comes standard with HyperVM Management Portal, reboot access, Automated OS reloads and LX Admin control panel. Each VPS offering comes with the customers' choice of operating systems including CentOS, Fidora, Gentoo, Ubuntu and Debian. Customers are also able to upgrade their control panel to cPanel for $10 per month and can purchase additional IP addresses for $1 per IP per month, as part of the new trio of different offering levels.
