News: Web Hosting Edition Software, Upgraded for New Workstyle
Penang, Malaysia - (Website Hosting Directory) - April 16, 2007 - New developments have been added to the web hosting software application, oDesktop Web Hosting Edition, remodeled from its original oDesktop ASE (Application Service Edition), for better ease and convenience.
Several major upgrades have been incorporated, including the capability of being installed at the cPanel Add-On or via FTP of the hosting accounts, which is anticipated will greatly simplified and afford more control of multiple-user accounts to the User Administrator.
In addition, the new Web Group sharing function was designed to enable users within the same web host or even differing web hosts to share folders or files, or to collaborate on projects, engineered by Comdev Software, responsible for the One Admin series.
Bryan Gan, CEO of Comdev Software remarked, '''We came out with the Web Hosting Edition specifically to assist the web hosts in creating value with their current range of products and services. The current scenario on the web reflects the competitive nature of the web hosting business. There is heavy pressure on the pricing while the size of storage space offered rises non-proportionately. This has caused an adverse effect on the margins.''
Mr. Gan continued,
''It helps to overcome the problem of overselling hosting through fully utilizing and optimizing the web hosting space. This helps avoid space wastage, a common phenomenon in the web hosting industry. Customer retention and customer satisfaction will now be the prime mover to drive profit and growth in their business instead.''
oDesktop WHE was upgraded so that web hosts would be able to bundle the web desktop program with current storage space offered to the web hosting accounts. The idea is to encourage end users to increase the frequency of usage as well as the utilization of the storage space. This in return, creates customer loyalty as well as opening up opportunities for the web hosts to sell more server space, cross sell products and services, relieve pressure on the margins and at the same time have a sustainable competitive advantage over those who are utilizing the pricing platform as a means to maximize sales.
The built-in applications are designed to ensure that the end users will find plenty of uses for them and have fun at the same time. Currently, the 7 applications consist of oDrive, oPhoto, oMusic, oNetwork, oEmail, oNews and oGames. These applications allow the users to store their data files or photos remotely, so that they are always accessible from anywhere in the world without the need of having to carry the files with them physically. They could be shared or collaborated on, or even be attached in the usual manner with the emailing system. There is the RSS news feed to catch up with the news and event of the world, or they could just sit back and relax with the Flash games. The range of applications will be expanded in due course and end users could look forward to CRM and business applications in the near future.

News: Yahoo!, Google, MSN Challenges, Highlighted by Search Engine Panel
Columbus, Ohio - (Website Hosting Directory) - April 16, 2007 - The Search Engine Strategies event at the New York Hilton, recently showcased a web analytics presentations, discussing new challenges in getting retail website content listed in Google, MSN and Yahoo!, sharing elements to improve organic or natural visibility.
During the presentation ''Web Analytics and Measuring Success,'' President of Columbus-based Bizresearch, Laura Thieme, discussed the benefits and advancements in web analytics. Among the featured content of the session, were examples of how advanced web analytics and funnel path analysis were used to measure the effects of blogging or social media and its impact on organic rankings, search marketing campaign performance and bottom line profitability. She will also cover new information on key performance indicators and problems that can occur with web analytics data when ad campaigns are not properly tagged with tracking strings.
To counter increasing customer acquisition costs, retailers are realizing rapidly the necessity and benefits of using web analytics to track and measure the return on Internet marketing initiatives and their impact on profitability. It's also becoming increasingly important to quantify the value of organic versus paid search, Ms. Thieme is reported to have indicated.
Ms. Thieme explained,
''While costs for customer acquisition on the web are skyrocketing, search marketing is still one of the most cost effective forms of acquisition, with the average cost per customer being $8.50 compared to $70 for acquiring customers through direct mail. But, rising costs and increased competition are putting pressure on web marketers to increase their conversion rates, and that fuels a real need for web analytics to measure how the site and search marketing programs perform in achieving objectives like brand awareness, parity-plus positioning, and sales.''
To illustrate the point, Ms. Thieme cites a recent industry survey by the Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization (SEMPO), statingn ''SEMPO's survey found that brand awareness was the primary objective of 62 percent of e-tailers' websites, and 60 percent of those surveyed also listed selling products as a key objective for their websites. But companies need help to determine what works, what doesn't work and why, and to measure more accurately their true return on ad spend.''
Also featured in the presentation, was a discussion on how to optimize database-driven e-commerce content at ''Fun with Dynamic Web Sites.'' Ms. Thieme reiterated, ''Retailers, marketers and webmasters must understand and apply the right strategies to index and rank their online stores in search engines. This workshop provides tips, tactics and best practices on how retailers can achieve the highest visibility and sales when establishing and promoting virtual stores.''
Now in its tenth year, Bizresearch provides search engine marketing services, including paid search (CPC), search engine optimization (SEO), web-based tracking and return on ad spend (ROAS) analysis for retailers, manufacturers and Fortune 500 companies.
