The NameWinner Auction Model
There are 2 periods of bidding.
*all times PST(GMT -8)
1. Open Bidding
Bids can be placed on any domain at any time during the Open Bidding Period
up until 10:00am the day the domain drops.
2. Extended Bidding
The Extended Bidding Period lasts for 72 hours unless the domain is not
successfully grabbed. If no bids are placed between 9:55-10:00AM on the
third day after a domain is successfully grabbed the person with the highest
bid will be awarded the domain. If a bid is placed within the last 5 minutes
the auction will be extended for 5 minutes from the time of the bid. This
will occur each time a new high bid is placed until a period of 5 minutes
elapses with no new high bids placed. At the end of the full five minutes
with no new high bids the person with the highest bid will be awarded
the domain.
Who can bid during the extended period?:
Any person who placed a bid before 10:00AM on the day of the drop is eligible
to bid during the extended period. Any new bidders who have not previously
made a bid before 10:00AM on the day of the drop can buy into the auction
for a fee of $50. If that bidder wins the name the $50 fee will be applied
to the final bid amount.
Proxy Bidding:
NameWinner uses a helpful bidding system called proxy bidding to make
bidding on auctions more convenient and less time-consuming.
Managing Your Domains After You've Won
NameWinner uses multiple partner registrars to help it grab domains. NameWinner
itself is not an accredited registrar.
Here's how it works:
- When you place a bid, you enter the maximum
amount you'd be willing to pay for the domain.
Your maximum amount is kept confidential from
other
bidders and the seller.
- The NameWinner system
compares your bid to those of the other bidders.
- The
system places bids on your behalf, using
only as much of your bid as is necessary
to maintain your high bid position. The
system will bid up to
your maximum amount.
- If another bidder has a higher maximum, you'll
be outbid. BUT, if no other bidder has a higher
maximum, you win the domain. And you could
pay
significantly
less than your maximum price!
This means you don't have to keep coming back
to re-bid every time another bid is placed.
