News: Google, Yahoo and MSN Key Word Study Results, Released
News Related to the Web Hosting Industry

Raleigh, North Carolina - (Website Hosting Directory) - September 11, 2006 - Interactive search engine marketing firm, Fortune Interactive LLC, has released the final part of its findings on how leading search engines are determining the rankings of web pages.

Fortune Interactive utilized its proprietary SEMLogic technology to ascertain what metrics were crucial to the web pages organically ranked on the first page of search results for the competitive key phrase ''vacation rentals'' on Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Mike Marshall, Vice President of Technology and Ccreator of SEMLogic and SEMasphere commented, ''Fortune Interactive's final study proved to be the most competitive vertical of the series. Using proprietary SEMDistance calculations, we found the key phrase 'vacation rentals' to be part of a more intense competitive landscape than our preceding studies, which focused on key phrases in the insurance and personal electronics sectors.''

According to the company, similar to the methodology utilized by search engines, SEMLogic )uses semantic analysis in examining a company's online competition and identifying patterns and trends as well as establishing what search engine crawlers are recognizing as the strongest supporting words. The technology studies and evaluates over 100,000 data points of on- and off-page factors of more than 100 competitors in any given industry. In addition, hidden threats to a web page's position are identified via SEMDistance, a proprietary measurement.

Key SEMLogic findings that are unique for the key phrase ''vacation rentals'' on Google, Yahoo and MSN include:

-- In-bound link quality was the most important factor on Google, Yahoo and MSN.

-- In-bound link quality was 55 times more important than in-bound link quantity on Google. It was also roughly 2.09 times more important than in-bound link relevance.

-- Ranking well across all three search engines requires strong values in the two most important influential factors for each search engine. However, in-bound link quality, one of the more important factors, has one of the smallest degrees of overlap with 12.77 percent. As such, successful link building will require varying levels of effort for each search engine.

-- There were 14 web pages with the potential to overtake the position of pages currently ranked in the top ten on Google. Specifically, 70 percent of the pages in the top ten on Google were threatened by these competitors.

Scott Gardner, Vice President of Sales and Marketing added, ''Beyond understanding what aspects are most important to achieve first page rankings on the major search engines, SEMLogic, in essence, serves as a rearview mirror for companies already ranking in the top ten allowing them to stay ahead of their shifting, competitive landscape.''

Fortune Interactive is a full-service interactive marketing agency, specializing in search engine marketing, online reputation monitoring and Web log (blog) marketing.
